Windows 10: Why is there a delay when clicking the power button icon on the windows startup?

Hello, I have recently built a new gaming PC with a fresh install of Windows 11 Pro. I have a persistent issue where when I go to shutdown my PC via the windows startup power button icon, there is a 1-2 second delay in clicking this icon to bring up the normal power options Shutdown, Restart, Sleep, etc. Before asking, yes my drivers, bios, and windows are all up to date, as I just built this new PC 3 weeks ago. Specs:ASUS ROG STRIX B650e f Gaming WifiRyzen 7 7700xNvidia RTX 4070 SuperCorsair Vengeance DDR5 2x16GB 6000Mhz

Pc problem, randomly doesn't turn on sometimes.

Fast startup is a feature in Windows that helps your computer start faster. You can use the following steps to enable or disable fast startup.

• Type Control Panel in the search box.
• Click Control Panel.
• Click Power Options.
• Click Choose what the power buttons do.
• Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
• Scroll down to Shutdown settings and uncheck Turn on fast startup.
• Click Save changes."

 

Unable to login, not icon to click for login.

As per your query, I suggest you to perform Startup repair and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Press and hold Shift key and restart (Click on the shutdown icon and select Restart option) your Computer.
  
• 
  Select Troubleshoot.
  
• 
  Select Advance Option.
  
• 
  Select Startup Repair.
  
• 
  Follow the on Screen instruction.

Windows 10 power button not working

If your physical power button is not responding when your computer is running despite being able to turn on the laptop, it seems like a setting or software issue. You've done well to update your chipset driver, BIOS, and Windows.

Here are a few more steps you can try:

1. Check Power Button Settings:
   
   • Right-click the Start button and select "Power Options".
     
   • Click on "Choose what the power button does" on the left side of the window.
     
   • Make sure the "When I press the power button" option is set to "Shut down" or "Sleep" based on your preference.
     
   • Click "Save changes".
     
2. Turn off Fast Startup:
   
   • Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > System Settings.
     
   • Click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable".
     
   • Under "Shutdown settings", uncheck the box that says "Turn on fast startup".
     
   • Click "Save changes" and restart your PC.
     
3. Run the Power Troubleshooter:
   
   • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
     
   • Find and run the "Power" troubleshooter.
     
4. Try a Different Power Plan:
   
   • Go to Power Options (as in step 1).
     
   • Try using a different power plan like "Balanced" or "High performance".
     
5. Reset Power Plans to Default:
   
   • Open Command Prompt as an administrator (right-click on Start button > Command Prompt (Admin)).
     
   • Type powercfg –restoredefaultschemes then press enter.
     
   • Restart your PC.
