  1. Why is there now answer about the TAP-Windows Adapter V9 and wants everybody to remove it?...

It is installed on my notebook June 23 2018 and have driver 9.0.0.21 dated 21-4-2016 so 2 years old and no new found on the internet.

    What is it doing?

It has no MAC-Adress? How come? When will it have a MAC-Adress?

It has Media Status "Application Controlled", the other choice is "Always Connected" Which one is the best, for what?

It MTU is on 1500. What is this meaning? Which number is best for what?

Non-Admin Access is Allowed. The other choice is "Not Allowed"

What are the answers on the 4 questions from the advanced settings?

My notebook very often disconnect and locked so I've to release it with pincode. But sometimes it is the hole time online and starts the screensaver.

Spotify is always working. Streaming by Bluetooth to audio-box and the notebook is in connection on Wifi to my router with internet.

I was looking for a VPN but reading all the problems with the (Digital signed by openVPN Technologies Inc.) TAP-Windows Adapter V9 and nowhere an answer only "looked" questions or "replaced to the right forum location" what that may be?

Hoping to receive clear answers so I can install the adapter right and use is when its possible and working the best for me!

    THX!

    Martin

    PS,

Maybe I choose not the right topics because it could also be many others.

    :)

  2. Uninstall TAP Windows Adapter V9

    SOLVED

    • Step 1: Download OpenVPN and install with ALL features from HERE : Downloads
    • Step 2: Open CMD.exe as administrator and go to the file location of "C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\bin" or whatever that turns out to be.
    • Step 3: Follow the "Installing and uninstalling TAP-drivers" section from the website

      HERE
      : https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn/wiki/ManagingWindowsTAPDrivers
    • OR JUST READ BELOW
    • Step 4: How to get the <id> for the next section:
      • Go to Network Connections
      • Right click the TAP device you want to remove
      • Click Properties
      • Click Details
      • Using the drop-down menu, get the Hardware ID
        • This is usually something like: tapoes, tap0901 etc
    • Step 5: Remove those suckers by typing the following into CMD: tapinstall.exe remove (ID from step 4)
      • it should look something like this below:
    • Step 6: If you have devices that were not removed, repeat Steps 4-5 for all TAP adapters
    • Step 7: Restart!
    • Step 8: Uninstall OpenVPN and you're all set!

    Supplementary information from the site:

Occasionally you may need play with different TAP-driver versions. In this case you can use devcon.exe from the Windows command-prompt. Below are some common commands you can run from an administrator Powershell
    or cmd.exe console:

    List available TAP-Windows adapters:

List network interfaces (incl. TAP-Windows adapters):

View information about an installed driver:

    Uninstall a TAP-driver:

    To verify TAP-driver removal:

    Install a new TAP-driver:

    Update a TAP-driver:

    Notes:

    • <id> refers to the driver identifier which is tap0901 for OpenVPN 2.2+, but may be different in older/newer OpenVPN versions.
    • <something.inf> is typically OemWin2k.inf (old tap-drivers) or OemVista.inf (newer tap-drivers). You need to specify the full path to this file, e.g.C:\Program Files\TAP-Windows\driver\OemVista.inf.
By installing multiple times, you will create additional TAP-Windows adapter instances, which can be used for multiple concurrent VPN tunnels. It is also possible to install using Control Panel -> Add New Hardware,
and it is possible to uninstall using Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager.

  3. 13x TAP-Windows Adapter V9?

Hi guys, i really need help on this. Anyways, lets get started. So, as i recently wanted to check why my Gigabit Adapter does not take in Gigabit anymore since the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, i checked by in the Network Sharing Center, and went under the Adapter Settings. There, i found 13! TAP-Windows Adapter V9, and i tried to disable them and uninstall them in the device manager, i even tried a registry thing i found in a spanish windows forums, but they just keep enabling and installing themselves. Can anyone of you help me figure out what does this? I noticed a huge impact on network speed and performance (i.e, i had before those came a 100MBit Up and Down speed, now i have 10Mbit Up and Down -_-). So ye, i really want them gone, here a screenshot:

Also if you could help me figure out why i cant take in Gigabit anymore on my "Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I218-V" on Windows 10 Pro, that would be great (because where i live now, i can get Gigabit and i would really like that, but Windows 10 Pro broke it *Sad (No its not the cable or so wich is broken, because the adapter should still say it can take in 1GBit in the Properties of the adapter, wich it did back in Windows 8.1 Pro, and i was using a Wireless Adapter))

  4. Why is there now answer about the TAP-Windows Adapter V9 and wants everybody to remove it?...

    Uninstall TAP Windows Adapter V9

I am trying to remove the TAP adapter, I installed Tiger VPN and OpenVPN a while ago but cannot get rid of the multiplying TAP adapters that appear here and in Device manager.

    I have a Windows 10 Professional PC with 8gb ram, i7 4770k, Radeon R9 280x

I have been trying to remove TAP for some time.

Removing the device from device manager does NOT work. It temporarily removes them.

Removing devices from Network Connections does NOT work.

Removing driver files does NOT work, I don't know why.

Restarting puts the adapters back in place every time.

    Please advise.
