Windows 10: Why is this link http://www.msftconnecttest.com

Why am I getting redirected to this links and being told I'm not connected to the internet. It happens in all the browsers. My firestick internet keeps dropping too. links www.msftconnecttest.com/cgi-bin/home.ha opens the status of my ATT wifi router www.msftconnecttest.com/redirect www.msftconnecttest.com/cgi-bin/intercept.ha

msftconnecttest redirect not working on windows 10 public wifi

Seems odd that I can get onto the login page on my iphone (which apparently does not use msftconnecttest as an interim step, but not the laptop.

Can I bypass this msftconnecttest step manually?

 

All Gmail links fail

Thanks to bro67...Interestingly enough the Gmail link to this forum reply actually worked, as did your link to "How to Fix....." I tried steps 1 and 2 without success. Step 3 gave me the following screen, which didn't look like the article described. At any rate, the probem is unchanged...screenshot follows.
