  1. Why is UAC asking multiple times for one instance?

Hi,I have ran into an issue where UAC asks for permission multiple times in one instance. What I mean is when executing an application, UAC will be prompted on my screen multiple times. However, even with selecting the "yes" option, some applications fail to start. I understand the purpose of UAC and want to keep it active, but this issue is quite confusing and I have not found an adequate way to fix the issue.

    :)

  2. Why are multiple instances of Windows popping up?

We had an employee go through some old personal drives on a work computer and ever since he did that it's asked us to choose between 5 different Windows 10 instances every time the computer booted up. I stopped it from asking us every time by going into "This PC > advanced system settings>startup and recovery>settings" and unselecting "time to display listed operating systems". However when I went to choose an operating system from the pull down menu it showed 5 instances of Windows 10. It's not a huge deal because I got it to stop asking us to choose one every time we booted the computer up, but I'm curious as to why it would be showing multiple instances of Windows 10.

  3. Problem with UAC in win 10

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. Appreciate your interest in using Windows 10.

To disable UAC prompts, I suggest you to follow the steps provided below:

    • In the search bar, type Control Panel and press Enter.
    • Click on User Accounts and again click on User Accounts.
    • Click on Change User account control settings.
    • Provide password for the UAC prompt.
    • Drag the box from Always Notify to Never Notify and click on OK.
    • Provide password for the UAC prompt (if asked again).

Important: Turning off UAC reduces the security of your computer and may expose you to increased risk from malicious software. We do not recommend leaving UAC disabled.

Hope the information is helpful. Feel free to write to us for any other assistance with Windows, we’ll be glad to assist you.

  4. Why is UAC asking multiple times for one instance?

UAC dims the display When Asked for Administrator Privileges

    Hi Darius,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand how difficult it could be and we truly appreciate the time and effort that you have taken to work on this issue. However, we would need some more information regarding the issue.

    1. Is the system connected to the Domain?
    2. Was there any major update on your system prior to which you did not face this issue?
    3. What is the complete message that you are receiving when you are getting a “dark screen with the sound of asking for administrator permissions”?

In the meantime, we would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and check if it helps you.

    1. Search for UAC in search bar.
    2. Click on Change User Account Settings from the list.
    3. You would see a slider bar to the left of the page which you can adjust up and down.
    4. Move the slider and position it so it is second from the bottom. You should see some text to the right side stating
Notify me only when apps try to make changes to my computer (do not dim my desktop).

    Regards,
