Windows 10: Why is VHD taking Space from C drive?

What is the use of a 1tb VHD if my game is taking space from vhd and c drive. The whole purpose of me intsalling a vhd is I don't want to buy a hard drive.

VHD (Virtual Hard Disk) uses space from C: disk??

I don't understand, I thought download a file into a VHD means the file takes space from VHD, but, when I download a file it takes space both 2 hard disk with a same file size it takes(Example: Download 1GB file = C: disk minus 1GB and the VHD minus 1GB).

Now my question is: How is exactly VHD works and how to stop it from taking space from C: .(Notice that the VHD is in the C: disk)

Unallocated Space to C Drive

Hi Travis,

It appears that a disk partition was created but was never assigned its allocation. Assuming there are no files stored in the unallocated partition, perform these steps to combine it with your C: drive:

• In Disk Management, right-click on (C which appears next to the
  Unallocated partition.
  
• Select Extend.

Let us know if you're able to combine the spaces after following the steps above.
