Windows 10: Why is Windows 10 update such a disaster - do Microsoft Beta test anything anymore?

Since getting Windows 10 at work it has been a disaster, it seems to have been designed as a cross between a smartphone and a tablet and is absolutely useless for computers that interface with technology in the real world.

Almost every update in the seemingly endless stream of updates removes the drivers for our various serial leads, USB adaptors and other interfaces! After re-installing the latest drivers and going through the painstaking process of doing the COM port drivers, bus drivers etc manually because when you install them online or from discs, they successfully install and finish but nothing works, the devices only work until the next update and hey presto "No drivers are installed for this device".

Even when you plug into the USB and up pops the device detected window, then "name of device is installed and ready to use" does it work? No! Go to device manager - no drivers are installed for this device.

Every update seems to wreck something, items disappear from the taskbar, the touchpad settings return to unusable tap to click settings and will not disable, the volume slider no longer appears etc, etc. Windows 10 will not give you permission to look at the external drive that you have been using every day, suddenly you also no longer have permission to look at your own files despite having ownership and full control!

Has there been a problem, did all the qualified staff leave or do they simply not care that their current product is garbage?

We fortunately kept hold of our old Windows 7 PC's, we can no longer network them, but hey, none of these problems, everything works!

Windows 10 sucks big time.

Creative X-Fi Soundcards and Windows 10 Fall Creators Update 1709 = Complete Disaster / Not Working

Thank you for trying to help , i did tried your suggestion but it did not work :/ , nothing seems to make it work on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update 1709. In the meantime i have bought a new SoundBlasterX AE-5 and it did installed flawlessly , no problems whatsoever. it is up to Creative ( drivers ) and Microsoft ( bug fix ) to fix this huge bugs with Audio.

Microsoft Releases Windows Vista SP1 Beta to Select Testers

In contrast to the previous testing program, Microsoft recently released the most up-to-date code of its operating system to a small, hand-picked selection of people. SP1 is designed to enhance current features found in Vista, rather than add new ones. Among the most noticeable improvements to Vista in SP1:

• Overall performance has increased markedly.
• Several stability issues have been fixed
• Network compatibility/speed has been tweaked

There is no word as to whether or not there will be a public version of this update. Anyone who has been chosen as a beta tester will most likely get the update through Windows Update.

Microsoft Rolls Out the Windows 10 Anniversary Update

It appears you can still upgrade Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 if you still have the update EXE which is not available on Microsoft page anymore because the offer ended in July. Hihi *Smile So, you just had to download that updater in time and you can still use it now *Smile
