Windows 10: Why is Windows 11 volume silent below 5%?

Unfortunately the volume knob on my reference monitor speakers for my PC crackles when I turn it, so I'd rather leave it at about 20% and use the Windows volume control via my particular keyboard shortcuts. It goes up and down in 2% increments rather than 1%, but I don't mind that really. I've found though that if the Windows volume is any lower than 5% then it's completely silent 4%, 3%, 2%, 1% and of course 0%, even though there's still plenty of room for the sound to be quieter without being silent. Obviously 0% should be the same as muting it, but even 1% should be audible, albeit very q

My suggestion: Get a meter that measures the actual volume being output. Make note of what percentage on the Windows volume control corresponds to what actual physical volume as measured by the meter. Make a list of several places along the way, maybe every 5 or 10 percent and what that corresponds with in real life.

What is your operating system version and build?

What troubleshooting steps have you made?

Open administrative command prompt and run: C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther

Search for these log files and post with onedrive or a cloud link.

In administrative command prompt run:

1) diskpart
2) list disk
3) select volume 0
4) list volume
5) select volume 1
6) list partition
7) select volume 2
8) list partition
9) select volume 3
10) list partition
11) select volume 4
12) list partition
13) exit

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
