Windows 10: Why is windows forgetting display settings

I have a Dell laptop with Windiws 11 and 2 monitors connected via USB C. I usually expand my desktop, but every time I disconnect my laptop or even just turn off the laptop screen, the system forgets the display settings and returns to desktop duplication mode with random window locations the 'remember window locations based on monitor connection' is ticked though. The main display can be anywhere, and it takes me more than 15 seconds to find it, so I don't have time to press "Confirm" and have to repeat the whole process again.
