Windows 10: Why is Windows referring to programs as "apps" now?

    Why is Windows referring to programs as "apps" now?


    I'm confused about this. I'm more used to calling them programs. Why did this change happen?

    Why did the startup window get cleared?

    I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.

    • Which “My Programs” are you referring to?
    • Can you provide us the brief descripting about the issue?
    If you are referring to All apps then, I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it help.

    • Click on the Start button.
    • Click on All apps and you can view all apps/programs.

    Uninstalled Programs still appearing in 'Show notifications for these apps'...

    Please provide us the list of programs which are still showing up under
    'show notifications from these apps'.
