Windows 10: Why is Wordpad being removed from Windows without a viable replacement?

So it has been announced that Wordpad will be removed from Windows in a future update, why is this being done? There is no real replacement being provided. This is an application that came with and a large number of people count on being able to use in Windows.The suggested replacement is not a reasonable one, as that is to use the "free" online version of Word, but the fact that it is specifically online makes it an unviable and unreasonable solution. There are millions of people who do not want their system online all of the time and some do not want to or cannot have their systems online

Was Wordpad removed from Win11?

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Wordpad was not removed from Windows 11, it should be located in this folder:

C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories

If you cannot find WordPad in there, open the Settings App, then go to Apps - Optional Features.

Do you see WordPad in the list of installed Optional Features?

If not, click the option to 'Add a Feature' and install WordPad from there.

 

WordPad issue

I like to suggest you some steps as per my last experience follow these:
Click -> Start menu -> type ‘WordPad' in the taskbar-> search and click on the result. -> open WordPad.
If you’re find difficulty to open WordPad,
the Press -> Windows + R key -> type ‘Write’ -> hit enter.
You will WordPad application launching on the
screen.
or
Navigate this path C:\windows\system32\ you will see a ‘write’ (File).
The application is here now.




or
Just run an Office repair sofwtare to check if there will be any changes on the Word pad.

What exactly you mean when you say ‘deleted’, are you referring to the application which was showing in the Start menu or the application was uninstalled from your computer?

WordPad is a basic word processor that is included with almost all the versions of Microsoft Windows.

I would suggest you to follow below mentioned steps.

1. Click on Start menu and type ‘WordPad' in the taskbar search and click on the result. This will open WordPad.
   
2. If you’re not able to open WordPad, Press
   Windows + R and type ‘Write’ and hit enter.
   
3. You will WordPad application launching on the
   screen.
   
4. Navigate to C:\windows\system32\ and look for a ‘write’ (File).
   
5. You will see the application now.
