Why is wsl.exe visible in a cmd prompt but not PowerShell?

For some reason if I'm in a PowerShell terminal and cd to C:\Windows\System32, I cannot see the wsl.exe command. If I run a cmd from there I can see wsl.exe and a couple of other wsl* files See comparison below.

Why am I not able to see wsl.exe when in a PowerShell window?

    POWERSHELL:

    PS C:\Windows\System32> dir wsl*

    PS C:\Windows\System32>

    CMD PROMPT:

    C:\Windows\System32>dir wsl*

    Directory of C:\Windows\System32

    12/07/2019 05:09 AM 38,400 wslapi.dll

PowerShell instead of Commandline in Creators Update

Interestingly enough my personal laptop just got the update...and still has Command Prompt listed, not PowerShell...

Edit: Not that it matters...I use both regularly. *Toast :toast:

PowerShell instead of Commandline in Creators Update

Powershell is approximately 5 billion times better than the command-prompt though.

    CMD and PowerShell

    Hi Andre,

I did all items you listed.

After reboot, running CMD and powershell (admin) had the same result ("no app associated"). So I turned the feature off in taskbar settings.

    Regards,

    Danker
