Hello, I am having an issue downloading needed files from any browser. My hard drive space dropped from around 52-53 gb to about 42.8 GB. The browsers freeze up when I try to download a specific file adobe acrobat file. I have not tried to download other files. However, I have only recently downloaded PDF files, and updated HP diagnostics for windows though I recall a browser updating. I used a disk space analysis tool to try to figure it out, but I cannot pinpoint what is taking up space. I also used disc cleanup.I ran sfc /scannow and the DISM commands to try to fix this.I would like to

Windows Updates downloads 14 GB and fills drive

I can't expand it - I would need a new laptop. My laptop has RAM 2gb SSD 32gb It originally had Win8 and upgraded to 10 and ran surprisingly well -- until the anniversary update.

    • In a FAQ it said Windows 10 uses approximately 10 GBs of disk space.

Windows 10 can upgrade such systems with as little as 8.5 GB of free space.
This is misleading. Win10 it has gotten bigger and updates seem to need a lot more space (and no option for moving download location). I had 14 gb free space when something (assume Win10 update) filled it up and notified me I was out of space. In the list of
updates for Win10 version 1607 I cannot even find an update that applies to this system...

    What I've done so far:

I run Ccleaner and Windows Disk Cleaner (cleanmgr) regularly. I set settings to store personal files on an external SD-card. I've disabled Hibernate and indexing of C drive. I reduced the paging file. I uninstalled a few programs that were stored in C.
I have found www.catalog.update.microsoft.com so maybe I can keep going by manually updating.

  3. My windows 10 upgrade consumes all of it's drive c: space (50 GB)

    • My windows 10 upgrade consumes all of it's drive c: space (50 GB)
    • I am unable to install the update,
    • I suspect the windows 10 need this much space and it is some kind of glitch,
    • Please suggest a way to free up some space as I don't prefer to format partition C:

    C Drive Keeps Filling Up

Thanks. Extremely interesting article. I followed the steps as outlined, but when I was as the step to Stop the Windows Modules Installer Service, it was already stopped. So I was not quite sure how to proceed, so I abandoned the process. Since I had
already manually deleted most of the cab files, I now have 190 GB free space. I will closely monitor the free space to see how quickly it fills up, and if it fills up as quickly as the article suggests might happen, I will try again to follow the instructions
to see if I can get it to work. With the service already stopped, and set to Manual, if I get to that point again, do you have any suggestions on how to proceed? Thanks again for this very insightful article -- it sure explains a lot.
