  2. 16G ram installed only 7.95g available

Firstly I thoroughly reseached the mobo/ram/cpu compatibility and got fully matched and approved parts.

    1. Mobo is a Gigabyte B350 chipset (AB350M-DH3)specifically for dual channel ram for the AMD Ryzen 5 processor (6core12thread) and will accept up to 64G of memory.

    2. The mobo has 4 memory slots and the ram is correctly installed for dual channel (slots 2+4...i have tried all other combos as well). The BIOS recognizes the full 16 gig of ram ok.

    3. It is brand new ram ...GSkill 2x8g matched dual channel memory kit specifically matched to the Ryzen processor. The memory model is specifically approved by the mobo manufacturer for that mobo and processor.

4, The BIOS has been reflashed to the latest version (dated 7/4/17).

    5. The memory has been reseated many times and the bios has no issues with recognizing it.

    6. Windows itself says there is 16G installed but only 7.95 G usable.

    7. If I remove all ram and reseat it, the first time booted after that it says the full 16g is useable but after any reboot it reverts to 16G installed but only 7.95 usable. Same with the modification of the boot script using MSCONFIG. It reverts after a
    reboot.

    8. DXDIAG recognizes the full 16G installed.

The problem is with Windows itself not the hardware. Initial boots after reinstalling the ram or after using MSCONFIG/BOOT manipulation will show the correct ram.... BUT after any further reboot it reverts to 16G installed but only 7.95 G usable. It is not
a hardware issue but seems a problem with Windows picking up an old setting from somewhere despite recognizing the ram is installed.

    Very very frustrating.

  3. 16G ram installed only 7.95g available

The issue is NOT resolved. Windows still reports 16G installed only 7.95G usable. Contrary to my comments above...further memory benchmarking shows it is DEFINITELY not utilising dual channel mode and memory benchmarks are 50% or so down on expected throughput
for a dual channel system. In addition, newer version of CPUz shows only 8G ram installed and single channel mode operational.

I am waiting till after Easter to approach the vendor of the components to purchase another 16G from a different manufacturer....memory which has been used by tech reporters in testing their equipment. If that ram works OK then the original ram will be returned
as faulty...not meeting its widely advertised claims of being fully compatible.

I have rigorously looked over the web for a resolution from both the mobo manufacturer and the ram manufacturer to no avail.

  4. why my antivirus is using so much memory? it's not even scanning (i have 16G ram)

16G ram installed only 7.95g available

Just did major upgrade (cpu/mobo/ram) and went from 8g to 16g ram. Trouble is windows system says that 16g installed but only 7.95 g available.

I have tried a dozen times to adjust the max memory in the boot config (via msconfig) and it keeps resetting to a blank amount on reboot. Twice I did get it to recognise the full amount as available but it reset to 7.95g on the next reboot. It is like it
wont let me set the max ram option in the boot config.

Has anyone else had this issue.
