Windows 10: Why my Bandwidth regulator app shows me blocked apps by firewall?

Hello, Windows 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1151) EIS NetLimiter I know, I have asking the same question thousands of times, but I have not understand Example: If I have a Disk SpeedUp.exe blocked in my Firewall, why it still appears as active application? Thanks

Windows Firewall blocks App Store from downloading new apps

Hi,

Let's try to check if the app store you're referring to if it's really blocked by Windows Firewall. See these steps:

• Open Windows Firewall from the taskbar >
  Firewall & network protection > Allow an app through firewall.
• A new window will show up containing the list of the apps that ca be allowed through Firewall.
• Look for the app you want to be accessed, and make sure that the Domain, Private and Public are ticked. That would allow the app store to be accessed.

Let us know what happens after doing the suggestion.

 

What in the firewall is blocking my app? UPDATE

One easy way to figure out which executable is being blocked is to use process monitor:

Download it and run as Administrator.

Next step is to configure filtering in process monitor to show only dropped connections, here is a link to customized setting for this task:

Download it to your desktop, then in process monitor click on File -> Import configuration and locate downloaded configuration.

Next step is to clear accumulated data by pressing following button marked in green in process monitor:




Now go ahead and try to reproduce your problem with Arduino IDE.
Within process monitor all dropped TCP connections and closed TCP connections will be marked with Cyan color as soon as there is dropped data.

Not all of this cyan lines are drops, but it should give you some picture.
If you want to be 100% sure, click on filter to enable showing received TCP data as follows, click on red marked button:




Here when filter opens up uncheck options that says
Operation is TCP receive





Click OK and now you can investigate which of the cyan lines are dropped packets and which ones are normal TCP close.
For example if you see cyan lines without matching TCP receive then you know these lines are representing firewall problem with outbound traffic (not inbound!)

Your next step is to investigate if within firewall there are block rules that contribute to dropping packets.
If not, next step see if default outbound is set to block in firewall, and if so create allow rule for dropped packets.

 

Blocked app is still playable, and doesn't look like it's staying blocked on the list

• Is the child account signed in as a local or a Microsoft user account?

I suggest you to check the Firewall settings on the system.

Steps:-

• Block the app from Recent Activity.
• Press “Windows Key + X” and select Control Panel.
• Go to System and Security and select Windows Firewall.
• Click on “Allow an app through Windows Firewall”.
• Select Firewall Settings and check the status of the app there.
