Windows 10: Why my desktop is running 32 bit windows

How to upgrade windows 10 to 64 bit ? Moreover does that actually matter if it's 32 or 64. Cause most software supports 64 bit version.

Why is everything running 32 bit on my windows 10 pro 64 bit system?

The last version of windows 10 security update stopped my wifi dongle from working because the only available driver for it is 32 bit and the new security update flagged this as an unsigned and unusable driver.

First I tried to roll back windows which sent my pc into a loop where it would just continually try to restart. So I re-installed the 32 bit version of windows 7 Ultimate and then re-updated to windows 10.

My windows 10 now runs as a 32 bit operating system and other than reinstalling windows 7 ultimate and then installing windows 10 AGAIN I can't see any other way to make my system run in 64 bit.

So my suggestion from this experience is that upgrading from a 32 bit os will put windows 10 into 32 bit mode.

If there is a way to change this without another double re-install would someone please let me know?

 

Windows 10 Upgrade 32-bit to 64-bit

So, Windows 10 Upgrade is being rolled out worldwide, and I have 'reserved' my upgrade.

Currently my computer is running Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. I'm planning to 'upgrade' it to Windows 10 64-bit (via fresh install, of course).

After reading many references, these will be the steps I'll do:

1. Let the "Get Windows 10" app upgrade my OS to Windows 10 32-bit
   
2. Note the activation key
   
3. Download the Installation Media for Windows 10, but choosing 64-bit instead
   
4. Perform a clean install
   
5. Reactivate using the activation key in Step #2
   

(Of course I'll backup my data first.)

However, I still have some questions:

1. On Windows 7, the activation key does not differ between 32- or 64-bit versions. Is it still so with Windows 10?
   
2. Will I be able to download a different architecture on Step #3?
   
3. Is there anything I need to prepare beforehand?

Why is everything running 32 bit on my windows 10 pro 64 bit system? A good 80% of my software's that i use are all 64 bit but everything in task manager is running 32 bit. This occured right after i updated to the most recent Windows Update. Its been
preventing me from editing video due to Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects both wanting to run at 64 bit. How do I fix this???
