Windows 10: Why my files taking twice space while copying one drive to another?

I've just bought my new laptop.it has windows 11 by default.whenever i copy or move files from one drive to another ,it takes twice space of the original.but after restarting the device i get back my space again.plzz help me out this nonsense problem

I have a problem in Windows 10.

When I copy a file to a drive, it takes twice as much space than its size.

During the copy process, it firstly takes all of its size from the free disk space, then it continuously takes the same amount until the copy is finished.

The result is, that when I copy 1GB file to my HDD, I have 2GB less of free space. Do you have any idea, what can be the reason?

I also have the same issue. I have narrowed it down to disk compression. On copying a file to a disk which has disk compression enabled, it starts to copy the file (If the disk space allows) and immediately allocates that space and then start filling up
the remaining space as and when the file is copied. If you do not have double the amount of disk space available, it start throwing error of disk full. If you do have the space, it will end up taking twice the space of the file that you copied. However, rebooting
or disconnecting and reconnecting the drive afterwards gives the extra space taken back. But this is a workaround and is annoying to do everytime, especially if you are running low in disk space. This did not used to happen in Win 7.

  Click file explorer from the list.
  
• 
  Select the CD/DVD drive and hit Enter.
  
• 
  Select the files you want to copy from the CD/DVD, then select the drive where you want to paste or save.
