    Cannot read files on floppy disk

    Hi, I have files that I know are good on a floppydisk. On trying to access them a message says the disk need formatting. I have tried to use PhotoRec from the UBCD but it will apparantly only read HDD or CD/DVD.

    Can anyone suggest a freeware program that might work. Thank you for your help.

    Can't read from source file or disk when copying files between OS and external hard drive

    I still think the problem is with the formatting when switching the file between Mac and Windows.

    Since you say you are sure the file is good it may be a false positive error, so if nothing else works you can try this same method to copy a file in boot mode when Windows cannot block it:

    "Not able to read from source file or disk" problem even after chkdsk.

    Hi,

    A few days back I posted a question regarding being not able to back up my data from my laptop to my hard disk. An error kept occurring during transfer of files and it read "not able to read from source file or disk". I enquired about it and I was suggested to run a chkdsk D: /f /r. I ran the chkdsk and it completed in 2 days and after that tried to copy my files. Although some files which were not being able to copy before got copied, I ran into the problem again. I don't know what to do now. I asked the same question in my previous thread of questions but didn't get a reply. can you please help me with this?
