Windows 10: Why not activate windows 10 before imaging

Discus and support Why not activate windows 10 before imaging in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; I always wondered this, why NOT activate windows before imaging? Specifically 10?     Why not activate windows 10 before imaging


    I always wondered this, why NOT activate windows before imaging? Specifically 10? I have to active it to enable some features for the theme/desktop. So by doing so, what does that hurt?

    Windows is not activated?

    I just recently found a watermark on my screen that says "Activate Windows, Go to Settings to activate Windows".

    Why is this there? I have a laptop with windows 10 on it and it was already activated. Why is it not activated? I didn't make any changes, and it just pops up now? Please help!

    ACTIVATION OF WINDOWS 10

    I HAVE UPGRADED TO WINDOWS 10 BEFORE 29TH JULY 2016 UNDER FREE UPGRADE WINDOWS 10 PROGRAM.

    NOW I AM GETTING A MESSAGE TO ACTIVATE WINDOWS 10 OR ELSE IT WILL GET EXPIRE BY 2 MAY 2017.

    THE FREE UPGRADE WAS FOR LIFE TIME SO WHY AM I GETTING THIS MESSAGE?

    Why not activate windows 10 before imaging

    I have always done my imaging after Windows was activated.

    Edit: I would recommend doing a image before adding any programs or making any changes.

    weird, why is it everywhere I read says NOT to activate windows prior to imaging. I also have read audit mode is basically not defunct too, because you cannot even get windows updates on the image?

    I don't know the answer to that. I've always did it after Windows was activated and never had any problems.

    IMHO, The main thing is to have a image made before you have any problems. That way you can restart from a working Windows install.

    Of course. We also use MAK keys, but we're also semi small shop, maybe 1800 computers or so. 4 Distinct images.
