Windows 10: Why or how Google search request from Chrome appeared in Microsoft Edge?

Hi,I ran my PC today as usual which brought me a new update from Windows Updated: 2023-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems KB5023706. While the system advised me to restart my computer, I continued searching in the Chrome browser. After a while, I restarted my computer and saw a search box I never asked for it on the taskbar. I clicked on it, it showed me an ad box, and I clicked on the Pi-Day banner. Edge has been launched and it shows me 2 tabs: about Pi Day https://www.bing.com/search ... and my latest Chrome search: https://www.google.com/searc

Microsoft Edge Google search problem

Personally solved problem of not being able to use google search in Edge by following steps.

1. Assumed the problem with using google in Edge is because windows 10 is still in beta.

2. Installed Google Chrome.

3. Set Google Chrome as the default browser in Windows 10.

4. Pinned Google Chrome to taskbar.

5. Removed Edge and IE from the taskbar

6. Google search now working well in Chrome.

 

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.

 

Microsoft Edge Google search problem

...It is, but maybe if the source is something other than Microsoft someone will pay attention to it?

I'm not having any of the issues listed here, Google is the default search engine for edge. I will say that chrome has been really bad about resources and killing battery life lately, so I got rid if it and have been using edge exclusively. Before someone
starts this ****, I am not a Microsoft employee.
