Windows 10: Why programs opened from secondary screens jumps to the primary screen while opening?

I wanted to share an issue I've been facing while using multiple monitors in Windows. It seems that whenever I open a program, regardless of which screen I launched it from, it always opens on the primary screen. This behavior is consistent for most programs, with only a few exceptions. Needless to say, it's quite frustrating having to manually move program windows to the desired screen every time. Another annoyance is the placement of the "Run as Administrator" dialog. No matter which screen I'm currently working on, the dialog always jumps back to the primary screen.

Hello,

On multi-monitor setup all the new application windows are being opened on the primary screen, for example:

• I click on the application in the taskbar on a secondary screen -> it opens on the primary screen
• I start executable on desktop on a secondary screen -> it opens on the primary screen
• I click on an image file in the explorer on a secondary screen -> image viewer opens on the primary screen
• I right click on desktop on a secondary screen and selected "NVIDIA Control Panel" -> the control panel opens on the primary screen
• I click on start button on a secondary screen and start typing -> the start menu closes and the reopens on the primary screen

This behavior makes little sense and is extremely annoying, especially because I often have a full screen application (a game, virtual machine, remote desktop) running on the primary screen.

Is there a way to change this behavior and open application windows on the screen it was initiated?

Or at least the be opened on the "active" screen (the one with the mouse cursor)...

I'm not interested in switching my current primary display to the other screen, because it would not solve my problem:

1. Application windows triggered on that screen would still be opened on the primary screen
2. I want my full screen games to use my current primary screen

thanks Denis, here is a clip of my file manager jump lists and when I right click on an item the resulting mini menu
as you can see I can then normal click the top and Open the item of course.

thanks for all suggestions have carried out most and found no difference so far. Will check out the clean boot tomorrow. John
