    why RTC time stopped updating when motherboard turned on over period of time?


    Hi,Please help me to understand this issue that is happening to me.I have turned on my motherboard after 2+ months, i found that RTC time and date is not getting updated immediately when i first powered on.Note: Again when i turned on my different Motherboard Different manufacturer which was left unused for 1 year, But time and date is updating properly as per the current date and time.what is the reason/logic it can be?Thanks in advance.Siri.

    RTC time not update issue and system rebooting meanwhile.

    I have measured the voltage using multimeter while the Motherboard is in ON condition.

    The thing is RTC has been updated immediately after the reboot of the system.,only during the first turn on after over a period of time RTC time was observed wrong..... Juz wanted to understand what is the reason to occur this issue....

    Please suggest what is the reason behind the problem that am facing.

    Problem statement: My desktop did not update RTC time when i turned on my PC after 2+ months, then it has started rebooting itself for 3 times and RTC time is updated this time.

    please help me finding the reason behind this.

    Is it due to RTC cell issue or the BIOS issue.

    My Windows 7 date/time stops working.

    If the date/time has to be reset each time you turn the computer on, it almost certainly means that the Real Time Clock (RTC) battery (sometimes called the CMOS battery) has died.

    If the behavior of your computer is different, please clarify what you mean by "works for a short period and then stops." Does the date/time go to the same value each time it stops showing the correct values? If so, what does it show?

    The RTC battery is easy and inexpensive to replace for almost all desktop/tower computers. The ease and cost of replacing the battery varies considerably for laptops -- some are easy and inexpensive and others are very difficult and expensive.

    If you need directions for replacing the RTC battery on your computer, please provide its make and specific model.
