  1. Why so much wasted space on taskbar in Windows 11

2/3 of taskbar is now empty / wasted space. Icons are much smaller. Every since Windows 95 30 years ago! the START button was in the lower left corner. Now? Middle of the task bar, and tiny. Click it, no menu. Try to find your settings. Or anything. Who designs this stuff? We need real people with real jobs doing layouts on business tools. Less video gaming, more work.

  2. Windows 10 Taskbar sometimes on top of full-screen applications

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to change the Screen Resolution and check if this helps. Follow the steps below to do the same:

    • Press ‘Windows ’ key on the keyboard.
    • In the search box, type Settings
    • SelectSystem > Display > Advanced display settings.
    • Under Resolution, select a new value. We suggest you stick with the resolution marked
      "(Recommended)”.
Also try locking and then unlocking the Taskbar and check if this helps. Follow the steps below:

    • Right-click an empty space on the taskbar.
    • If Lock the Taskbar has a check mark next to it, the taskbar is locked.
    • If it does not have a check mark, click Lock the Taskbar.
Hope this information was helpful and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to assist.

Windows 11 Taskbar Has Unexplained Empty Space Between App and Tray Icons

    Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with my Windows 11 taskbar where there is an empty space between the app icons on the left side and the tray icons on the right side. The taskbar is not fully populated, leaving a noticeable gap.

Has anyone else encountered this problem with the Windows 11 taskbar?

Any suggestions or insights from the community on how to fix this annoying taskbar issue would be greatly appreciated.

Why so much wasted space on taskbar in Windows 11

remove empty white space on the bottom left of Windows 11 taskbar

Hi leon26WW, My name is Merlina, I am an Independent Microsoft and a user like yourself.

I understand you have a concern regarding the space on the left side of your Windows 11 taskbar.

I recommend you move the start menu and the icons back to left, to do that please follow bellow steps:

    1. Right-click on the Taskbar and open “Taskbar settings“.

    2. After that, click on “Taskbar behaviors” to expand the menu.

    3. Next, in the “Taskbar alignment” drop-down menu, choose “Left”.

    4. That's it. Now, the Taskbar icons will move to the left on your Windows 11 PC.

I hope this helps! Thank you.
