    Why the **** can't I open HEIC?


    I shouldn't need a third party app for this.I really shouldn't, I don't care about any ands, ifs, or buts im sure you have loaded for me, ****What the **** is the point of upgrading to windows 11 if it can't even open modern file formats?What are you people getting paid to do?

    Hi Edward,

    We need more information about your concern. Are you trying to convert and open other image format to HEIC? If yes, a certain program will be needed to open that kind of file, we suggest checking the Windows Store for programs that can convert other image
    format to HEIC. Make sure to download the program with the highest rating and good reviews.

    How to view Apple's .HEIC pictures

    It should work, it does for me. Try Fabler2's suggestion in post #6 and reset the app.

    You could also see if you can open known good sample .heic pictures, like the sample1.heic seen above that I got from here:

    Why the **** can't I open HEIC?

    PowerToys changes format to HEIC

    - Installed PowerToys to Windows 11.

    - Took photos that were transferred from iPhone to Windows 11 and resized them.

    - Photos has a HEIC format but opened fine on Laptop.

    - Checked PowerToys settings, and Image Resizer settings but couldn't find anything to suggest that they should be changed to HEIC,

    Was it just a false positive? As in they are actually jpg but it says HEIC because they were transferred from an iPhone.
