Windows 10: Why the Hell is my computer typing in Chinese now?

In the middle of trying to use Matlab and typing in my search bar, a new menu suddenly popped up and started suggesting Chinese letters to replace what I typed. Why the hell did this happen and how do I stop it?I literally can't type anything but chinese characters. Why the hell would Windows install this suddenly?

We understand that you’re unable to type Chinese characters in Windows despite having the Chinese language installed, there could be a few reasons for this issue. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

1. Check Language Settings:
   
   • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
     
   • Go to > Time & LanguageLanguage
     
   • Ensure that Traditional Chinese (or Simplified Chinese, depending on your preference) is added and set as one of your languages.
     
   • Click on the Chinese language and make sure it’s set as the default, if you want to use it all the time, or make sure it’s listed under ‘Preferred languages’.
     
2. Add a Chinese Keyboard:
   
   • In the settings, click on the Chinese language.Language
     
   • Under , click .OptionsAdd a keyboard
     
   • Choose the Chinese (Traditional) or Chinese (Simplified) keyboard layout that matches the characters you want to type.
     
3. IMF (Input Method Framework) Issues:
   
   • If the Traditional Chinese IMF is not ready, it could be due to a corrupted language pack or an issue with the IMF itself.
     
   • Try removing and reinstalling the Chinese language pack:
     
     • Go to > > > Time & LanguageLanguageChineseOptions
       
     • Click on Remove and then reinstall it from the option Add a language
       
   • Ensure that the Chinese Input Method Editor (IME) is installed and selected as the default IME for Chinese.
     
4. Run the Troubleshooter:
   
   • Go to > > > SettingsTime & LanguageLanguageLanguage settings
     
   • Click on under the ‘Related settings’ section.Troubleshoot
     
   • Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

I suggest you to perform the below steps and check if it helps.

1. Type "Language" without the quotes in search box next to Start Menu and click on it.

2. Click on Add a Language.

3. Search for Chinese language from the list.

4. Click on Chinese (Simplified) and click on Open.

5. Then select the Chinese language.

6. Click on Add.
