Windows 10: Why the Japanese keyboard layout changed to US keyboard after do CSRConnected System Recovery?

Steps to repro: 1. Install Japanese Win11 OS 22H2 22621.2861 2. Go to BIOS setup, set UEFI Wi-Fi Network Boot: Enabled, Reinstall Windows from cloud: Enabled. 3. Reboot, enter boot menu, choice "Reinstall Windows from Cloud". 4. The Wi-Fi Networks page shows up. Choose a wireless network, input the password and connect. 5. Wait for the "Connected System Recovery" process to complete automatically. 6. Via OOBE to desktop. 7. Open OSK and check keyboard layout/function 8. Found the keyboard layout changed to US keyboard---issue

Can't change keyboard layout to japanese

Hello,

I have a problem switching my keyboard layout from French (main language of my PC) to Japanese. When I try to switch by directly clicking in the taskbar or using keyboard shortcuts, the language does not change at all and stays on French.

Important notes:

- I have recently transferred my operating system from windows 10 to windows 11. The Japanese layout used to work on windows 10

- I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the Japanese layout multiple times.

- I have tampered with the Registry Editor because I was trying to change the layout from qwerty to azerty when using the Japanese keyboard (Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layouts0000411\), and I wonder if this could have caused the problem, or if it is simply linked to the switch from Windows 10 to 11.

Japanese Language Keyboard Layout issue with Widows 10

Hi,

I was able to fix the issue with below steps.

1. Install Japanese language pack

2. Change the keyboard layout to japanese and reboot the pc.

3. verify the keys has been changed by opening the on screen keybord.

This suggests to me that you are using the wrong "keyboard language" for your keyboard, and that therefore you first step would be to determine exactly what language keyboard you have. Possibly have a look at Windows Keyboard Layouts - Globalization | Microsoft Docs.

(The age of any laptop capable of running Windows 10 at all should not be a problem as regards keyboard layout)
