Windows 10: why the shortcut added to my laptop onedrive file become a hyperlink?

can someone help to solve this problem? previously when added to laptop shortcut is direct to the file, but now it becomes hyperlink

Hi David,

That's an excellent suggestion, however I was hoping to make this process as easy as possible for my staff. At this stage, copying the path and pasting it seems the easiest, however probably too technical for some (seriously!).

As this step is just one in a list of 5 or 6 steps, let me ask you - can the same batch code move a file, create a shortcut of it, and move the shortcut?

Adding Onedrive shortcut to taskbar

To be sure everyone understands what is being asked, I want to first say I am not referring the desktop application icon. I am not sure how, but I previously had this type of shortcut on my computer but somehow, I removed it without knowing I was doing so. I want to add a OneDrive shortcut to OneDrive cloud/online and it not add to the Microsoft edge list of shortcuts. Anyone know how?

File in Onedrive

I have an excel file saved in my OneDrive that I have shared access to allow my team to view it, not edit.

The spreadsheet is full of hyperlinks and if they just click on open it opens in the browser and the users are not able to open the hyperlinks. They have to open it in the desktop app but some team members are not brilliant IT wise so are struggling to find the file and open it correctly to allow the hyperlinks to open.

Is there a way they can create a shortcut on their desktop that will take them to the file in the desktop app? If so how do they do the shortcut?
