Windows 10: why the taskbar gets frozen or unresponsive?

I have been encountering a problem where my taskbar becomes unresponsive, and I have to open Task Manager using Ctrl+Alt+Del. Subsequently, the taskbar returns to normal. I ran the System File Checker, which identified and successfully repaired some corrupted files. However, the problem persists. Additionally, I am unable to left-click and right-click on the desktop, preventing me from closing or minimizing opened windows until I press Ctrl+Alt+Del. I am considering whether reinstalling Windows might solve the issue. I am uncertain if my wireless mouse is the cause, as I used it on another com

Sorry for the trouble, here are few steps that I would suggest:

• Press the Windows + X
• Open the Command Prompt (Admin)
• Now type the command as " Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
• Push Enter
• Restart the system.
• Now see if the issue persists
• If it persists the only option is to create a new user admin account.

Unresponsive Taskbar + Frozen/Laggy Applications

Hi all, I would be so grateful for any assistance with this issue. I have been experiencing an issue where my taskbar is unresponsive. This happens the first time that I boot my computer when it "wakes up" and even randomly when I am using the computer.

When the taskbar becomes unresponsive, opening another program or browser tab either is very slow to occur or will result in a freeze. There are no icons visible on my second monitor. On the main monitor, the taskbar may be hidden and there is only a spinning wheel located around my cursor when attempting to hover over the taskbar. Should the computer be already in use and the taskbar begins to fail, I always notice it first with the search feature. If I am able to type into the search bar on the taskbar, the results will not pop up, only a blank window where the results should be. If I restart Windows Explorer from the task manager, this only worsens the state of the PC.

Multiple times daily, I have to force the computer to shut down by holding down the power button. Once it has been re-booted, I am then able to access my taskbar as expected. Programs will then run fine for some time.



In Command Prompt, I have already tried the following:

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

sfc /scannow



The first time I did so, there was a duplicate instance of Windows Explorer located and this was repaired by the process. There are no issues found any longer.

The issue returned. This is then I used the media creation tool to replace/repair my version of windows. The computer was great for around 5 days. The issue has returned and is worse than previously.

I ran again the restore health and sfc commands. There were corrupt files located and repaired, but this, again, didn't resolve this issue. Last night, my computer became unresponsive again so I held down the power button to restart. On boot, there were processes that occurred to repair my C drive. This morning, again, I started up the computer to find an unresponsive taskbar.

I did notice when I first logged into the system after the refreshed Windows was installed, it was a bit laggy. All of this went away when all the updates were installed. Only, that didn't last but 5 days.



I started experiencing this issue with a laptop and another desktop around the same time which made me wonder if there was some issue with a Windows update. Those devices do not share similar files or hardware as well. I would say around the end of March is when this started to occur. Those two were repaired very easily, but on my main desktop, the issue just gets worse on the daily. Please provide any other suggestions. Thanks, again!
