Windows 10: Why there's no "PRO" eddition option in Windows Media Creation Tool?

I owned Windows 10 PRO, which is installed on my laptop right now.

I want to reinstall Windows 10 on my laptop (including DISKPART format) from bootable USB media, so I downloaded the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's site.

But when i'm getting to the part of choosing language, edition and architecture - In 'edition' there are only "Windows 10" and "Windows 10 N" options. No option for PRO edition.

I remember few month ago when I used the tool - there was option for PRO edition.


So my question is - If i'm making a bootable USB with "Windows 10" edition, and install windows from it after full format:

- Will my license (PRO edition) be automatically activated? Without issues or entering a product key? (I don't have one for WIN10 because I've upgraded from 8.1.. Few months ago It activated my windows automatically when I've installed from bootable USB after format..)

- Will I get all the PRO features automatically?

maybe because you havent set any connections for "home media". i think it needs to connect with your computer. you also need to install SimpleCenter's Home Media Server software on your PC

Can't Activate Windows 10 After Upgrade and Clean Install

Download Windows 10

Download the media creation tool in the relivent 32bit or 64bit version, and when you run it and choose the option to create the windows .iso you choose the relivant eddition.

 

The ISO contains home and Pro.

If you had 8.1 Pro then it will find this key in the BIOS and install 10 Pro automatically. You can skip entering the key if it asks you and it will activate automatically.

If you had 8.1 Home then (if it finds this key in BIOS) it will install 10 home. If it finds no key in BIOS (if you had 7 originally before 8.1 for example) it will ask you what you want to install.

What OS version(s) did you have in the past on this PC (including when you bought it). Did you buy it with 8.1 Pro?

You can also run Showkey - Windows 10 Forums before you start to see what keys it can find (it will show any original key as well as the generic 10 Pro one which ends 3V66T).

 

Then you go to activation menu, and enter the generic pro key (do not have it to habnd as not at my pc), and this takes you to the pro purchase page, and under the buy pro button is a link to enter your pro key, and you enter 8.1 pro key there, and then 1 pro is activated.

No - that does not work when trying to clean install pro when the pc has an embedded 8.1 home key.

The method I described is from MS.

 

He already has Windows 10 installed

His computer is registered with Microsoft it has nothing to do with Windows 8 anymore

He could put a brand new formatted hard drive in his computer and it will still be registered from Microsoft

Windows 10 can be clean installed during and after Free Upgrade

 

You do not understand what the issue is.

The issue is not an activation issue but a 'bug' with new versin ie when you try and clean install 10 pro with embedded 8.1 home key, installs 10 home not 10 pro, and you cannot select pro directly, hence the workaround.

This only applies if OP has peinstalled 8.1 home and upgrsaded to Pro.

 

That is not the OP's case why are you trying to confuse him with something that does not apply to him, He started with 8.1 PRO and now he has 10 PRO, where did you read that he had started with 8.1 Home. And there is no bug that I know of I just did a clean install for someone that had that exact scenario 3 days ago.

I really do not want to continue this pointless conversation.

 

OP only states he upgraded from 8.1 . He does not specifically say if he started with 8.1 home or Pro.

LX07 replied saying correctly, if OP started with 8.1 home on pc, it would install 10 home (not 10 pro). This is a well known issue with version 10586.

I clarified how to get to 10 pro from that situtation, which came from MS.

You then took my comment incorrectly out of context. The ensuring discussion was pointless becusse of that!
