Windows 10: Why Two Recovery Partitions??

Looking at Disk Management in W10, I note that my 'C' Drive (SSD) has two 450Mb Healthy (Recovery Partition) on it and One 99Mb Healthy (EFI System Partition) on it along with the main primary partition.

Why have I got two of these Recovery Partitions? Did an extra one get created when I upgraded from W10 Anniversary 1607 to Creators Update 1703 some time ago?

I'm now about to upgrade from 1703 to the latest Fall Creators Update 1709 using my bootable ISO Flash created by MCT? Will that create yet another Partition/s?

I already have a Windows.old (2.57Mb) and a Windows.old.000 (28.3Gb) folders. Will upgrading to 1709 from 1703 give me yet another Windows.old folder?

Unknown Drives in the partition

Thank you for the help but there was one more query. If you look at the image in the question I uploaded, you shall see there are two recovery drives. Why are these recovery drives present? Is it concerning that there are two of them? If it's not important
to have a recovery drive then how shall I remove it?

P.S. I have made a recovery file in a flash drive.

This bug appears on UEFI systems after Windows 10 upgrade.

It is simple to correct.

Windows uses the partition congruent to the (C partition. The partition on the end can safely be destroyed with diskpart.

Find free partition software to extend the (C partition because diskpart doesn't extend to incongruent unallocated space.

I used MiniTool Free.

 

You only have 1 recover parition the EFI System Partition is were windows boots from. If you have windows old run diskclean after its finish then tick remove system files it will rescan and find windows old then select all and remove it. If you get the new update it will again create .old this is so you can role back if you want your can delete it again with diskclean

You only have one.. The EFI partition is a Boot Partition, it is not an actual recover. Recovery is where Windows keeps System Recovery items. Nothing is wrong with how Windows sets up the partitions.

That is what win-10 does it creates 450mb system restore partitions
Win-10 does not remove older ones not even if one removes windows old folders the partitions will remain
Pretty much why win-10 likes uefi and gpt disks 10 can create as many as it wants too without a user seeing any error messages.

 

And you can delete the windows.old

 

Ok,..I have deleted the Windows.old folders just now thanks to you guys generously helping me with advice.

Lastly,..I'm still confused about having Two Healthy Recovery Partitions @450Mb each. This is what Disk Management labels these two partitions as. "Recovery Partitions".
Nobody has been able to answer why I have two of them when surely only one is needed. Can one of them be safely deleted so that I can claim that 450Mb of space back to the primary partition?

@ThrashZone explained why you have two recovery partitions.

Disk Management won't help much.

This is what you need to do. Open a Command Prompt (Admin), and I think Powershell (Admin) will work too. Run this command:

reagentc /info

The result will tell you which recovery partition is active. Make sure to not the results! Then run:
diskpart
select disk 0
list part

That should tell you which real partition numbers are assigned to the recovery partitions. Then still in disk part run:
select part # <- replace the # with the actual number of the recovery partition that is NOT the active one.
delete part override <- make sure you selected the NON active recovery partition!
exit
exit

Reboot the computer. Run reagent /info again. If you get an error this time, the partition number of the recovery partition got reassigned, and I'll show you how to fix that if need be.

 

Are you saying that you have a 99Mb UEFI partition and 2-450Mb recover partitions? Yes a screen shot would help a great deal.

Which does not tell you which recovery partition is active, unfortunately. Nor does it show the hidden MSR partition that is likely there. Which is why disk management doesn't do much good in this situation.
