  2. I use legacy bios so I have no worries about which recovery partition to delete. I normally leave it alone on a new release for a few weeks and then delete it. I use MR and do a full backup daily and I do not have a large SSD.

Sorry but not rude, just stating that you are beating a dead horse and you are sweating over something that is a nothing. This has been this way since Microsoft started to change how Windows 8 going into 10 would use partitioning to keep the OS safe from user habits.

I would not delete it, since we have all seen Windows 10 go tit's up when it gets upset over something not being there. It is not even a blip in such a small sized partition.

  9. Me too,...didn't understand it which is why I had to write that down and check here to see which was my active partition. Where yours says \Partition 1\,.. mine says Partition 4, so I assumed that partition 4 is the active one.

Since mine only has one (1), it is easy to tell. But, I have had some installs where there were 2, like yours and this would then tell which was active. Don't recall how I eliminated it, but like others have said, it is such a small amount of HD space, but one has to wonder what happened to make more than one. I am not satisfied just to let it do that for some unknown reason. YMMV

  11. I'm thinking it's when I upgraded from Anniversary 1607 to Creators 1703. It created another Windows.old folder and did it create this second 450Mb Recovery Partition?

I now want to upgrade from 1703 to the Fall Creators 1709 using my bootable Flash with ISO created by MCT but will it produce another 450Mb recovering partition so that I end up with three altogether?

This is why I want to learn how to delete these things if they grow in number each time I upgrade. After all, Microsoft are talking about different version upgrades every six months.

    Why Two Recovery Partitions??

Oh, that is nothing. When I updated mine and my son's old laptops from 8 home to 8 Pro, then 8.1. You ended up with three of those partitions. It got real fun with 10, when it deleted the wrong one when it first came out. The biggest headache that Microsoft ever created was when they pushed 10 out of the gate before it was cooked.

It isn't nothing. OS disk sizes are big enough that it makes sense to split them into two partitions, one for the OS and one for other things. That way you can do an image backup of the OS of a smaller size and time. The trouble is that these recovery partitions get wedged in-between, and feature updates eat away at the OS partition size to make room for them.
