Windows 10: Why was my i3 6100u hp laptop locked out of windows 11 update

My hp i3 6100u laptop was locked out of windows 11 update I had to do a clean install. The laptop is performing very well with no problem whatsoever. My laptop meets all the windows 11 requirements apart from being an old processor. It also has 16gb ram.

Windows 11??

For reasons that are unclear to me, the Lenovo laptop is incompatible. It may be the CPU, which is an I3-6100U. Official Windows 11 requirements have arrived: Here are the compatible Qualcomm, AMD, and Intel CPUs | Windows Central May be the I3-6100U CPU. The compatibility list in the link starts with the 8th gen. No clue as to why. (The Intel HD 520 graphics in that CPU are supposed to be DX12, and the drivers are WDDM 2.1)

 

Windows 11??

Turns out that Win 11 currently only officially supports Intel Generation 8 CPUs and later. Bummer.

The laptop otherwise supports all requirements, including TPM 2.0 (in firmware; no module).

 

Speeding up my i3 Windows 10 laptop

Hi - I have an old Lenovo Ideapad laptop that has an i3-6100U processor with 4 GB RAM and a 1 TB HDD by Toshiba. I have had this laptop for over 3 years now and since I am a student, I cannot upgrade to a more expensive laptop for some time. The laptop runs
very slowly and takes forever to boot up. Over 500 GB of storage space is still available, so I am wondering what is wrong, and what can be done to speed the laptop up a bit. It wasn't this slow at all when I first bought it!
