Windows 10: Why will my key not work to upgrade?

I am having trouble upgrading my Windows 11 Home to Pro, I purchased a key from an authorized reseller, and have had two different keys given to me from them and received the same error. I have tried this with the same results using three codes now. I have disconnected from the internet and reconnected. Tried with a WiFi connection. Tried with a direct ethernet cord connection to my modem. But each time, I get the same error.The dealer that has sold the key to me states that Microsoft deactivates the key after a short period of time for security reasons, but the very first key I received

Free upgrade still working using old keys


Windows 10 free upgrade offer still works. I tested today. First I installed and activated Windows 8.1 (I used an old Windows 8 key that had never been used) and after this I upgrade to Windows 10.

Note that Windows 10 upgrade installation does not accept Windows 7/8.x product key, so you need to select the option I'm reinstalling Windows 10 on this PC (see screenshot below).





You can also clean install Windows 10 and activate it directly with your unused Windows 7/8.x product key.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1: You may check if the ALT key is functioning correctly in on-screen keyboard. It will help us to verify if there is any issue with the keyboard.

Follow the steps below to open On-screen Keyboard.

  Windows + Q, type OSK (on-screen keyboard)
  
• 
  And check if it works
  

Step 2: Run Hardware and device Troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your devices. Refer these steps:

  Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.
