Windows 10: Why Windows 10 is not showing me notifications when I connect to my VPN?

I've tried setting up PPTP VPN both in Windows 10 settings and using Windows phonebook .pbk extensions and whenever I connect to either of them, Windows stops showing me notifications and some apps don't work properly. any idea how I can fix it? I'm running Windows 10 May 2020 update 20H1.


I've tried setting my WiFi to non-metered but that doesn't help. I can't find anywhere to set my VPN as non metered.

I appreciate the steps that you have done. I suggest you please follow the below steps and check if it helps:

• 
  Type notification on the search bar and click on
  notification & action settings.
  
• 
  And click on select which icons appear on the taskbar.
  
• 
  Turn on show app notification separately for each app.

Yeah, thats not a solution she is interested in......I've suggested that course of action. Thanks though.

Just to clarify, I feel that there MUST be a step, or series of steps to turn off JUST the wireless notification sound. Thats what Im driving @ here.
