Background applications

Hi Robert,

We understand that you don't want some apps to run on the background of your computer. What we suggest is to
control which apps are allowed to run in the background. To see which apps have permission, just follow the below steps:

• Open the Start menu or Start screen and select “Settings.”
• Click or tap the “Privacy” icon in the Settings.
• Scroll down to the bottom of the list and select “Background apps.”
  
• You’ll see a list of apps that have permission to run in the background with an “On/Off” toggle.

Just bear in mind that, apps normally run in the background to update their live tiles, download new data, and receive notifications. If you want an app to continue performing these functions, you should allow it to continue running in
the background.

Annoying Radio Music in the Background on Windows 10.

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. We regret the inconvenience caused and will assist you in resolving the issue.



Before assisting further, I would like to ask you few questions:

• When do you hear the radio in the background, when browsing online or accessing system programs?
• Do you hear the radio in the background even when no applications are opened on the desktop?
• Did you install any program/application downloaded from the internet on your PC?

The above issue might occur if you download and install any of the application/program from the internet website which is not safe or contains additional third party applications along with the download.



Step 1: If haven’t tried, close all the opened applications on the desktop and check if you hear the radio audio in the background. If the issue does not persists, the issue may be due to one of the recently installed applications
on the computer.



Step 2:Boot the computer in
Clean boot state by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.



Putting your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue.



You can open the System configuration window in Windows 10:



a. Using run command.

• Press Windows Key + R keys on the Keyboard.
• Type msconfig.msc and press
  Enter.

b. Using Cortana.

• Press Windows icon key on the keyboard and type
  msconfig.
• Select the top most search result.

Custom desktop background that updates daily

Hi,

We loved your suggestion to have a a background with a countdown for an specified date. We can consider this suggestion for future updates. To give you another option, we suggest to use Windows spotlight instead. Kindly follow the steps below to configure
it:

• Open Settings app.
• Click on Personalization
• Click on Lockscreen tab at the left panel.
• Under Background, select Windows spotlight.
• Under Choose an app to show detailed status, select
  Calendar app icon.

Note: Please make sure that you are logged in to Calendar app where the appointments was set.
