Windows 10: Why wont my computer register on the monitor?

Several weeks ago I built a computer and was able to successfully get windows download windows 11 and was able to get drivers updated and functional. However, about a week later I was working from home and stepped away from my computer for a while and my computer fell asleep. when I came back I could not get the monitor to recognize the pc was on until I hard restarted it. The next day when I turned my pc on to work I was met by the same issue as when it fell asleep the day before, but this time no amount of restarting my computer would bring the image onto the monitor. Second monitor is not registering


I just bought a second monitor for my desktop. But when I plugged it in, it would not register. I did try configuring in on under control panel and under display settings. It still wouldn't work after that. Then we asked advice from our local geek squad. They recommended we change the graphics card because the monitor might not have enough space/room for a second monitor. When I replaced my graphics card, went through the updates, and installed the GeForce driver, it still wont recognize that there is a second monitor hooked up?

'Generic PnP monitor' issue

I would suggest you follow steps to update the monitor driver:

Press Windows + X keys

Choose Device manager

Click on Monitors

Right click on ‘Generic PnP monitor’ and click on update driver

Tap on Browse my computer for driver software

Tap on Let me pick from a list of available drivers

Choose ‘Generic PnP monitor’ and tap on Next

When you are done please restart the computer.
