Windows 10: Why won't my Kodak PixPro AZ421 upload to my laptop?

My kodak used to upload images onto my laptop with the usb cord it came with, and now it wont. i dont know whats wrong but the camera doesnt come up under "this pc" or the import button in the photos app. i have tried another cord but it still doesnt connect i dont know why. I also havent broken the camera, but the battery has been stuck in the bater hole, but i have been able to upload images since it got stuck and had no previous issues with uploading. I have also tried to upload them onto my macbook with no luck either.

Hp laptop screen won’t display except occasionally

I would like to note that step 20 comes up with no files. Perhaps this could be the source of the issues?

As for the slide show on backgrounds you are SOL as that feature was removed in W8.
