Windows 10: why wont my laptop allow me to use cds or dvds through the disk drive?

Discus and support why wont my laptop allow me to use cds or dvds through the disk drive? in Windows 10 Customization to solve the problem; my laptop doesn't allow me to use dvds or cds through the disk drive, anyone else have/had this problem? anyone know how to fix it?...     why wont my laptop allow me to use cds or dvds through the disk drive?


    my laptop doesn't allow me to use dvds or cds through the disk drive, anyone else have/had this problem? anyone know how to fix it?

    DVD/CD Drive Saying CD-Rom

    My Dvd drive is listed in my device manager however it is set as cd rom in the description, it also wont open and is not set as my default drive, any suggestions?

    windows 10 if that changes anything

    CD/DVD drive does not read any disks, but will allow boot from disk.

    The CD/DVD drive does not function at all for any other media (program, video or audio). It only functions when I do a boot from disk with the Windows 7 disk.
