Windows 10: Why wont my PC connect to internet or ethernet?

Earlier i was playing a game on my PC and out of nowhere my ethernet stopped working. Connected to wifi and that worked for a little bit and then same thing happened. Keep in mind i was hardwired from my router to my PC when that happened. Only thing that seems to work is when i hardwire ethernet from modem to my PC, which works without issue. I have looked everywhere for a fix online and most places say the same thing flush dns etc. None of these have seemed to work for some odd reason. Not sure if it's a PC problem or router problem at this point and any help would be greatly appreciated!

You may try the following steps on your laptop and check if it works.

1. Open ‘Settings’ and choose ‘Network and Internet’.
   
2. Click on ‘Ethernet’ and tap ‘Properties’ for the network connection.
   
3. Set it to ‘Private’ and turn on ‘Make this PC discoverable’.
   
4. Close settings when finished.

PC Internet connection

After recovering from a corrupted win 10 1803 update I have an unusual "bug". I restored win 10 to the previous build and subsequently lost my internet connection. I couldnt get an ip address from my modem. I downloaded the 1803 update to a USB and did the
update, keeping personal files and apps. PC runs fine and I have an internet connection. However when I reboot the computer to finish installing KB4284835 I loose the internet connection. The ethernet wont get an ip address from the modem. ("Ethernet doesn't
have a valid IP configuration"). I have tried all suggestions I could find on the internet to no avail. Other computers connect to the same network via wifi or the same ethernet connection and pc will connect using Ubuntu The only way to get the internet connection
is to update via usb and don't reboot the pc.

Any suggestions.

 

Every update turns off my internet connection?

Visit network card manufacturer website to download latest driver if installing latest driver wont work reset network settings.

On Windows 10, you can also use the "Network reset" feature to fix Wi-Fi or Ethernet connectivity problems after installing an update or at any time that you can't connect to the network.

To reset the network adapters on your device, use these steps:

1. Open Settings.
2. Click on Network & Internet.
3. Click on Status.
4. Under the "Change your network settings" section, click the Network reset option.
5. Click the Reset now button.
