Windows 10: Why won't my PC detect LG external monitor?

I have an LG 27md5kl external monitor. It has one thunderbolt port and three usb-c ports. When I use the provided thunderbolt cable with my ASUS Q539ZD the monitor doesn't turn on and instead only slow charges my computer. It doesn't detect any monitor in my display settings. My pc has two thunderbolt 4 ports so it should be compatible I have updated the drivers, did a windows update, and a hard reset with no luck. Are their any other solutions to this issue? The monitor works fine with my iPad pro 3rd gen so I think it's a pc issue

Windows 11 Laptop not able to detect External Monitor LG24GN650

I am not able to detect my external monitor on windows 11 specifically. There is no physical connection issue as the monitor works when I connect it to another device operating on windows 10. There is also not any issue with my Windows 11 laptop's HDMI port as it works on other displays as well. It means the issue is specifically with the LG driver.

I have tried the following methods to solve the issue but was unsuccessful:

1. Updated intel and nvidia graphics driver
   
2. Updated Windows 11
   
3. Updated display driver from Device manager
   

As the monitor was not able to auto-detect I tried running the monitor driver exe file but it was showing error "Monitor is not LG manufactured"

Hello, I am having a very weird issue with external monitor LG 24gn600-B

The monitor was tested with my laptop and a PC - it didn't work. I decided to visit a store because I wanted to refund it. An employee connected the monitor with HDMI to random laptop and it worked. Now I don't know what's going on - here are some stuff I have tried:

- Connecting the monitor with my laptop and a PC through HDMI cables (3), DisplayPort 1.4 cable (it came with the monitor), HDMI to DP cable;

- Tried all the ports in devices;

- Successfully connected my laptop and a PC to a TV and other monitor (AOC) through a HDMI cable;

- Using Device Manager to update the drivers by searching automatically - already had the best drivers installed. (The monitor isn't showing in the Device Manager);

- Updating Windows 11;

- Installing drivers from the official LG website for the monitor. Unfortunately the EXEs don't even want to open because they don't detect the monitor;

- Manually detecting a monitor in settings;

- Updating Nvidia drivers in Geforce Experience;

- Re-enabling display driver and resetting display driver (win+shift+ctrl+b);

- Using Rigorous display detection in Nvidia Control Panel;

Things I haven't tried yet: (I don't know what else to do)

- Using USB C to DisplayPort cable - because I don't think it will work.

I am only focusing my laptop for the fix though, so the PC isn't really relevant but it only was used to test stuff here.

I have a Lenovo Legion Y540-17IRH with Windows 11 and GTX 1660 Ti

Is it possible my laptop isn't compatible with the said monitor, if so then what should I do?

I can tell from your series of solutions that both your laptop and LG monitor are fine.



So, the problem may be a faulty interface between the HDMI to DP cable, can you try replacing the adapter?
