Windows 10: why won't my PC play CD's on external drive

I have a HP PC running windows 11. It does not have a built in CD drive so I have an external one, which I have used to transfer music to my PC and also to load a program for a health monitor. This has always worked well. I have not used it since installing windows 11. I wanted to use it again and although the drive seems to be recognised the cd isn't. I have tried multiple discs and none work. The disc seems to load but is usually ejected. I did buy a new drive but have had the same problem. I have updated and uninstalled drivers, done a BIOS update though I don't know what that is When I o

External CD/DVD Drive

Hi Microsoft :

I recently purchased an external cd/dvd drive. The problem is with re-writeable CDs. FORMATTING and re-writing. The unit works with re-writeable DVDs (FORMATTING and re-writing. When I checked in DEVICE MANAGER, it lists the drive with the HP brand. Listing it as "hp cd/dvd W SN208FB". Even though the brand name on the drive is Roofull (I got it on Amazon). [Even though SOME USB devices don"t need a driver----some do]

My System : Dell Latitude 7490 laptop......Windows 10 Pr0 64-bit.....16Gb RAM....512Gb SSD.

Should I look into finding an HP driver for this cd/dvd burner ?

CD/DVD drive won't play CDs & does not appear in This PC list in File Explorer

Hello --

The CD/DVD drive on my older PC with Windows 10 has stopped playing CDs, and the drive does not appear under This PC in File Explorer.

- Yet Device Manager lists the drive and under Properties>General states "This device is working properly."

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Further details:

- This is a reconditioned Lenovo ThinkPad T430s, running Windows 10 Pro

- The drive is Matsushita DVD-RAM UJ8C2 with up-to-date Microsoft driver

- Before it stopped playing and showing up in Explorer, some CDs were intermittently recognized within WMP. I thought this might be b/c of disc condition (borrowed from public library).

 

Copying an Audio CD to PC and/or external drive

Hi,

I have a whole load of audio CD's which are taking up a lot of space and so am trying to, ideally, copy my audio CD's to my PC and/or external drive. I can copy the link to the audio CD but can only listen to the audiobook with the CD in the CD drive which,
obviously, defeats the object of copying the audio CD!

So, bottom line, can I copy an audio CD to my PC so that the full content is on my PC and will play directly from my PC? And, if so, how do I do that in Windows 10?
