    Why won't my programs and games work in Windows 10, and how can I fix it?


    I have a newer Asus Probook (64bit) and have been unable to get anything (games or programs) to load properly (including MS Office). Surprisingly, everything worked under Vista. What can I do to fix this?

    Programs not working


    In post 26 there were steps listed to fix the operating system corruption.
    Are you able to follow them?
    In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.

    Most programs created for earlier versions of Windows will work on Windows 10. However,
    some older programs might run poorly or not at all.

    To resolve your concern, you may run the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter by following the steps on this link to
    automatically detect and fix some of the most common issues.

    You may also run the game in compatibility mode to make it work on your Windows 10 PC by following the steps below:

    • Go to the game folder and right click on the setup file.
    • Click on Properties and go to the Compatibility tab.
    • Under the Compatibility mode, check Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select the operating system where the game is compatible.
    • Let the drivers install and launch the game again.

    Keep us updated with the results after performing the suggested solutions above.
