Windows 10: Why wont my shift key work for selecting non-contiguous text?

Hi all,I've recently encountered a problem where I cannot select non-contiguous text anymore i.e word, online website etcWhen I try to do so now, for example I try to select 2 different words from a website, instead of selecting the desired word when using shift it will select all the text in between the 2 words. My shift key is working fine except for this command. I've tried uninstalling the keyboard driver, updated software, turned off sticky keys etc. Again it was working fine up until a few days ago so maybe I hit off something that has altered this command ?Any ideas would be greatly app

The SHIFT key works for typing capital letters, but does not function when an attempt is made to select a contiguous list (e.g. first item ... shift ...last item), which worked in prior versions of WINDOWS.

 

Using the keyboard instead of the mouse to select non-contiguous items

My student only has the use of one arm. Is it possible for her to use the keyboard to select multiple non-contiguous items? She isn't able to hold the control key and use her mouse to click. Thanks.

Windows standard works in most places:

Select first item in a list (one click)

For contiguous list selection:

Hold the Shift key down, click on the last item in a list

For non-contiguous list selection:

Hold the Ctrl key down, click on each item you want to save

With selected items shown, simply hold the Ctrl key down and press the c key

These steps will save what you have selected to the Windows clipboard

You can then paste what is on the clipboard (not-selectively) in most places by simply placing the cursor where you want the copy to be, then hold down the Ctrl key and press v
