    Why won't startup look at us or dvd drive first?


    I've got repair disks and a windows usb but can't get either to work. I kept changing boot order but the pc resets it and goes into an endless update-fail-restore cycle. I'd like to get some files off this thing before trashing it.

    I remember when startup always looked at the floppy drive first. You didn't have to manually reset it.

    DVD driver not loading at startup

    Tried clean boot suggestion - No difference. DVD drive still not installed on startup.

    Tried suggestion on making DVD run under previous version. Must not have followed correctly, since could not find DVD drive listed. Will keep trying. Thanks for your suggestions.

    Is this the HP 15r014tx in your system specs? If so, try the steps in this thread....

    It may be that your DVD drive has a hardware failure (as was suggested in that thread).
