why do the numbers on my Microsoft authenticator never work?

Authenticator App not showing any numbers

For two step authentication to log into Microsoft account, the terminal display says tap the number 12 in the authenticator app. I go to that app on my Android phone, and click on the Authentication, and what i see is a generated one-time password code (to enter somewhere). I don't see the number 12 or any group of numbers for me to selector click on. The Google authenticator works well. So where are the numbers in the authenticator that I am suppose to click on ? The computer times out, click Next to send another, and it sends the same number 12.....pretty high security here....

 

Help Me Understand What I'm Doing Wrong

I may be missing something, but I think what's being suggested is you use the arrow to choose another different method other then 'phone number' such as email or an authentication app, whatever's on the drop down list that's not a phone number.
