Windows 10: Why would Microsoft assume no one wanted to see folder thumbnails in Windows 11?

I've been through all of these threads & tried several different methods & I still can't see my thumbnails. Why would Microsoft EVER assume this is something that we needed? Is there anyone who knows how to restore this feature? It's super annoying as I rely on images to know where Im going & not blank folders. UGH

mmaynard23, this is the most productive response I have seen in the thread. I appreciate your edited design, 100% agree and approve. The thumbnail needs to be about that size, ugly yellow folder taking half of the space is just super unnecessary, but it is a great step. In addition, the ability to chose thumbnail image would be nice. I assume the default would be the first file, but permissions to edit that if needed would be awesome. At this point, however, I would take even Summit's initial mock up over this blank file garbage.

The latest Dev Channel Build brings back Folder icons with Multimedia Thumbnail previews:
