Windows 10: Why would someone want to hack my Microsoft account and what can they do if they get in there?

There are continued attempts to access my Microsoft account. I don’t understand why and what they can do if they do get into my account. Someone compromised my husband‘s account yesterday and added their self as a family member in my Microsoft family safety. I removed them and changed my password. My husband also changed his password. I’ve tried finding phone numbers to call Microsoft because now we don’t seem to be able to access my husband’s account. We are a bit older and technologically behind so any help would be greatly appreciated.* Moved from Community Center

How cans someone hack into my Microsoft account when I have the two step verification .. that can only be approved from my cell phone?

 

77000 Steam accounts hacked every month

Ironically I've had the same crappy password since I made my Steam when HL2 came out and never been hacked, but I've had my Origin account jacked twice with a much more complicated password. 2 step on Origin fixed this problem, but just thought it was kind of funny. I went with 2 step on Steam to be safe too.
