Why would the default behavior of "OneDrive Backup" be to sync ALL YOUR WINDOWS COMPUTERS...

This is about the stupidest one use case implementation possible. I have multiple windows machines and all have different programs loaded. Why in the world would I want to combine EVERYTHING TOGETHER?Backup IS BACKUP. It is NOT SYNC. I just wrongly assumed that I could have a machine ID based backup that would be pushed to One Drive, because that is the only SANE way to implement this. Now I'm trying to undo it and removed Documents "backup" on one machine and there is no matching "Documents" folder on One Drive, I just have absolutely nothing in my local folder and my programs are all comp

  2. Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

  3. Onedrive sync and backup

    Hi,

I'm Rodrigo and I'll help you.

1- OneDrive only syncs the files that are inside the OneDrive folder, if you want to sync other folders, they must be inside the OneDrive folder.. These folders you select are only the folders from the cloud to sync to your computer.

To sync Documents, Pictures, and Desktop, enable the Backup Feature for these folders.

2- The backup feature changes the folder locations of the folders you can select (Documents, Pictures, Videos, Desktop, Music) to the OneDrive folder. When you disable it, it restores the folder's default paths but does not move the files back. They are still in the OneDrive folder stored locally, so you need to move them from the OneDrive folder to the current folders.

By default, it should not delete your files, unless you delete them from the cloud while synced from the PC.

To sync the files with the cloud and both PCs, enter the same OneDrive account on both PCs and enable the backup feature, both PCs will sync to OneDrive causing the sync of both PCs.

    Unexpected OneDrive behavior, backup warnings

OneDrive was mounted earlier, and all of a sudden I start getting these notifications. There have been no files lately of any significant size to prompt that.

Some time back I changed the behavior to save space locally. I thinks this was here Attachment 395427 But today, when I "continued", It just opened up my Onedrive folder. No further directions. Previous, this is what I had set,

I again disable those three areas, but they almost immediately enabled themselves. I disabled them again, and for the time being, they have stayed that way. But then if I don't "pause" the syncing/downloading, it continues. To my SD card, which already has those files.
