Wi-Fi Adapter for PC running at 25Mbps, Slow

Desktop computer, 8Gb, 500Gb M.2, Windows 10, USB 2.0 / 3.0 portsPurchased a name brand wi-fi adapter for my desktop computer 3 years old. Ethernet not available in this office.Running fast.com and speedtest by Ookla. Both give similar download/upload speeds of 25 down 15 up.I have the USB adapter plugged into blue 3.0 port. I should be getting max wi-fi speed from the router which is around 300Mbps. My laptop gets this in the same room.Any changes I need to make to the desktop Windows environment? Thanks!

    :)
