  2. Cannot turn on wi fi

I just reset a Dell laptop for the 3rd time. For some reason I cannot connect to my wi fi network. When I go into Settings and Wi Fi, the option is to manually turn on the wi fi and the "On" slider to turn on the wi fi will not stay "On"....it just keeps
sliding back to "Off". I have run numerous diagnostics and it will not even recognize my network. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am frustrated beyond belief...saw the same issue on this Forum and followed the suggestions and still cannot manually
connect to the wi fi netowrk.

Thank you so much in advance.

  3. WI-Fi calling does not stay on

I have a T-Mobile Nokia Lumia 521 phone with OS version 8.0.10512.142 installed.

When I first start the phone, Wi-Fi call is turned on - the phone icon on the Start screen shows Wi-Fi calling, and I have a full five bars on the signal strength icon - it does not show 4G (or 3G).

However, after a few minutes, the phone icon is reading T-Mobile, meaning that the cellular connection is now the active connection, rather than Wi-Fi calling. The signal strength icon is now show 4G with less then full strength.

Shutting the phone down and restarting it does result in Wi-Fi being active, but after a short time, it reverts to the cellular connect.

    I have tried the following:

    • Shutting down and rebooting the phone - see above for the results.
    • Turning the Wi-Fi connection off and back on. This does nothing - the cellular connection is still the active one.
    • Going to the Wi-Fi calling app (which shows Wi-Fi calling a turned on with the Wi-Fi Preferred Radio Box selected). Turning Wi-Fi Calling off, exiting the app, re-entering the app, and turning Wi-Fi calling back on. Cellular connection is still active.
    • Turing the Wi-Fi app off, shutting the phone off. Restarting the phone, and turning the Wi-Fi Calling app back on. Wi-Fi calling is active full a short time, then it reverts to the Cellular connection.
I don't know what else I can do at this point. Is anyone else experiencing this problem. Is there a know solution for it?

WI-Fi calling has given me a few problems...in addition to the above, it also interferes with my sending text messages, resulting in my having to shut off Wi-Fi calling (assuming it is on at that time) in order to send some text messages successfully.

    Trouble Changing Wi-Fi Password

I've been following the following steps to change my Wi-Fi password for some time:

    1. Launch Control Panel.
    2. Click "Network and Internet."
    3. Click "Network and Sharing Center."
    4. Click "Wi-Fi...."
    5. Click "Wireless Properties."
    6. Click the Security tab.
    7. Check "Show characters."
    8. Enter the password in "Network security key."
Those steps have been working just fine, but today I discovered a new wrinkle. If I change the password inside the router first, "Wi-Fi..." doesn't appear in step 4. This isn't much of a problem at home, because I can just change the password in Control Panel before I change it inside the router, but it would be a problem at a public hotspot, or something of that nature. I also tested Brink's instructions in "How to Connect To a Wireless Network in Windows 10," but they don't work for me either. How can I fix this?
