    Wi-Fi cutting out constantly Intel Wireless-AC 9260 160MHz


    My Wi-Fi has been dropping out anywhere from once an hour to multiple times a minute, which has made working from home near impossible.


    The issues are non-existent when I'm on Manjaro Linux, but are constant whenever I am forced to use Windows.


    I have already:

    • Updated all my drivers
    • Reinstalled my network drivers
    • Downgraded to the Asus OEM network drivers
    • Checked that power settings are in performance modes
    • Updated my BIOS to the latest version
    • Installed the latest version of Windows
    • Done a clean Windows reinstall


    This is my hardware:


    ASUS TUF X570-Plus Wi-Fi - Wireless adapter is the Intel Wireless-AC 9260 160MHz

    AMD Ryzen 5 3600

    Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060S

    16 GB Corsair DDR4 3200 MHz

    Western Digital 500 GB M.2 NVMe SSD


    This issue is extremely frustrating, and I have lost so much time trying to fix it. Any actual help not involving solutions mentioned above would be much appreciated.

    Intel Wi-Fi adapter AC-9260 and Windows 10 Build 16299.371, Driver update unclear

    I replaced the Wi-Fi adapter on my Lenovo Yoga 920-13IKB with an Intel AC-9260. I used the latest drivers supplied by Intel PROSet wireless software and drivers which installed the following:

    Intel Wireless AC-9260 Driver 20.40.0.4 Dated 2/6/2018

    Intel Wireless Bluetooth Driver 20.40.0.3 Dated 2/8/2018

    Everything worked fine with these drivers, but last time windows update ran it installed a new Intel Wireless Driver 20.50.0.3 Dated 3/14/2018.

    This latest driver does not appear to be the correct driver for the 9260 nor for the Lenovo Yoga. The performance with the updated driver was inconsistent and slower than it was with the latest driver supplied by Intel. I had to roll back the driver to 20.40.0.4
    to get back to the normal operation.

    Any idea of the changes on driver 20.50.0.3 versus 20.40.0.4 ?

    Also does this update apply to the Intel AC-9260 or is it for a different adapter and different machine ?

    If it is for a different adapter why was it applied on the Lenovo Yoga 920 with AC-9260?

    From the description in the link below it shows Killer AC-1550i (9560NGW)

    I also noticed that the MS update catalog shows a cab of about 75MB for driver 20.40.0.4 while the cab for 20.50.0.3 is only 4.5MB.
